Introducing the Connecticut School

The Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy (CSIMT) is a private occupational school located in Bloomfield , CT. Approved by Connecticut 's Commissioner of Higher Education in 2001, CSIMT offers a diploma program in Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT).

CSIMT recently completed their mandatory yearly review by the Connecticut State Department of Higher Education. Representatives from the state recommended a five year approval, which is the highest approval offered for private occupational schools. Following this approval in May, CSIMT is making plans to soon become a Master's level program.

The school's mission is to present the art and science of recovery through teaching, learning and understanding. The purpose of our professional school is the preparation of men and women to become IMT Practitioners who will then serve as integral healthcare providers nationally and internationally for the benefit of those whose ultimate goal is complete health recovery.

The curriculum is designed to:

  • Develop in each student the knowledge to determine which treatment model is appropriate for a client.
  • Assist the clinical academician to master a philosophical attitude that will allow them the ability to grow and adapt with the frequent changes in a challenging IMT curriculum.
  • Instill in the clinical academician the importance of self-treatment.
  • Provide clinical academicians with the functional knowledge of fellow healthcare providers.

In September 2003, CSIMT began an exciting program: The Academic Intensive. This program offers 6-7 days of classes every quarter for three years in Bloomfield , CT. This Academic Intensive is more than the combination of courses: it has an inherent life of its own. Included in the curriculum is the strength of the Leaders in the field as diagnosticians and practitioners of Integrative Manual Therapy. The goal of the Academic Intensive is to define IMT as a discipline. Students will graduate as Integrative Manual Practitioners who will be successful treating all patient populations. Functional outcomes are objectives: what does the client require to be optimally functional, beyond the predictors of medical outcomes?

Our first three quarters of the Academic Intensive have been a tremendous success! In addition to the regular courses from 9-5 each day, each week is full of exciting learning opportunities. Students may attend in-services by Sharon W. Giammatteo, Ph.D., P.T., I.M.T.,C., spend time observing in the clinic, attend evening lectures with guest speakers on topics such as nutrition, participate in Tom Giammatteo's D.C., P.T., I.M.T.,C. ongoing series on Physical Examination and Diagnostics, attend morning lab/review sessions with Ayelet G. Weiselfish, P.T, I.M.T.,C. . . .and much more!
